How our Demand Charge works.

We've implemented a new billing system that encourages members to help us maintain a more level and predictable load. This is good for our system and ultimately good for your bill.

Your meter identifies the hour that had the highest usage during the current billing period.

The hour with the highest usage is billed at the Demand Rate.

Why do we have this charge?

We've implemented this billing model to encourage energy use patterns that help us maintain a predicable and manageable electric load. Our goal is to maintain a balance between supply and demand that allows us to purchase all of our power at a predicable rate - thus keeping your bill as low as possible.

How is electricity billed?

(kWh) – One kilowatt-hour is defined as the amount of energy consumed by a 1000-Watt appliance running continuously for 1 hour.

(kW) – One kilowatt is defined as the amount of power required to operate a 1000-Watt appliance.
